Russian Family Recipes

So lately I’ve taken to cooking (well lately meaning yesterday and today) so here are some recipes I would like to share:

Katleti (Russian Meat dish)

-1/2 tray ground meat
-1/2 onion chopped (in chopper)
-1/2 large potato chopped (in chopper)
-2 slices of bread in water then ringed out
-1 raw egg
-Canola Oil

In bowl mix ground meat and bread and egg, add onion and potato into chopper, chop and add to meat mixture. Form into round balls and fry in pan in canola oil on high until all sides are dark brown, transfer to a different fry pan on low heat and cook for 15 minutes (so inside has time to cook) Serve with a side and enjoy!

Borscht (Russian/Ukranian soup)

-1/2 head of cabbage sliced on slicer
-1 beet peeled and slice
-1 carrot sliced
-1 small can tomato sauce and diced tomatoes
-1/2 onion sliced
-Canola Oil
-Salt, sugar, pepper, seasoning

Fill large pot 3/4 full with water and and add cabbage, boil on high heat, In a seperate pan pour canola oil and on medium heat place beet until cooked, then add carrots and onion then tomato, when finished simmering pour into Pot and cook on low/medium for 30 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons salt, a pinch of sugar pepper to taste. Enjoy! (great with sour cream)
